SETTIMANA INTERNAZIONALE COPPI & BARTALI: GIOVANNI VISCONTI, A DAY IN GREEN

SETTIMANA INTERNAZIONALE COPPI & BARTALI: GIOVANNI VISCONTI, A DAY IN GREEN

The team Neri Sottoli – Selle Italia – KTM has animated the 2nd stage of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi & Bartali getting a well deserved reward on the finish of Sogliano Sul Rubicone with Giovanni Visconti that is the new leader of the KOM classification.

An extremely brave breakaway for the siciliano rider who has attacked after 5 kms together with Ocampo, Etlushenko, Mosca, Russo and Molly with the peloton that has never let more than 3’10” of advantage.

In the final circuit on the climb of Monte Tiffi Visconti was going solo achieving those points who were important to get the Green Jersey with the peloton who chased him on the second lap where Bagioli was moving away from the group.

The young rider of Nippo – Vini Fantini was joined lately by our Simone Velasco and together they approached the last climb to Monte Tiffi but the peloton led by Mitchelton – Scott was too close and the gap was cancelled quickly.

1 km before the top of the KOM Mikel Landa attacked together with Lucas Hamilton and our Dayer Quintana missed the attack before being caught on the following downhill.

On the steep climb that was bringing the riders to the finish Mikel Landa was simply unbeatable with Hamilton in 2nd, and new leader of the GC, and 11″ behind them the peloton with Dayer Quintana in 12th, Davide Gabburo in 18th and Edoardo Zardini in 26th.
