Team Vini Zab├╣ – KTM protagonist in the 3rd stage of the Tirreno – Adriatico from Follonica to Saturnia, the last day in Tuscany in the “Race of the two seas”.

The team directed by Francesco Frassi and Luca Scinto was very active from the beginning with Marco Frapporti who was in the eight riders breakaway together with Pernsteiner, Thomas, Tonelli, Claeys, Eenkhoorn, Holmes and Van Hooydonck.

8’00” was the maximum gap of the bunch of escapees where, on the first climb to the steep Poggio Murella, Benjamin Thomas attacked.

The french rider was on his own for about 30 kms but he was caught again but his formers companions with 40 kms to go.

After the climb of Manciano, with 20 kms to go from Saturnia, it was Marco Frapporti to attack again but his effort ended with 11 kms to go as he was back in the reduced peloton that was including Giovanni Visconti and Luca Wackermann.

The second climb of Poggio Murella was decisive as Michael Woods attacked together with Rafal Majka with the canadian of team EF who managed to win the sprint.

33″ behind them, and just outside of the top 10, a great performance by Giovanni Visconti who ended in the same bunch of Luca Wackermann who is now our best placed rider in the general classification where he stands in 18th place 43″ behind the new blue jersey Michael Woods.
